How to Win

Correctly arrange your cards in order.

How to Lose

Let someone else do it first.

Chapter One

The Setup

  1. Pick a dealer. The dealer is the person who shuffles and deals the cards. They'll also lead the reveal later on.
  2. The dealer gives each player 5 cards, year hidden.
  3. Players stack their 5 cards with the year hidden. No peeking.
  4. Set the deck to the side. It's only needed if there's a tie.

2006
Each card has the event on one side, and the event + year on the other. The year stays hidden until you reveal it.
Chapter Two

Who Goes First

No turns. Everyone plays at the same time. The countdown is what matters.

Chapter Three

Playing a Round

  1. Set a timer for 30 seconds for the first round. Every round after that is 10 seconds.
  2. Arrange your 5 cards in a row, year hidden, with the oldest event on the left.
  3. When the timer hits zero, hands off! No more rearranging.
  4. Starting with the player to the left of the dealer, work through your row from left to right. Take each card, read the event out loud, then turn it over to show the year. Is the card you revealed newer than the previous card? Keep going. If not, stop. Your turn ends and the rest of your row stays year hidden.
  5. If your 5 cards are in order from oldest to newest, you win the round!
    • If more than one player got all 5 correct, skip to Breaking a Tie below.
    • If no one got all 5 correct, keep your hand. Revealed cards stay year showing, but you can rearrange all 5 of your cards (you know some of the years now!). Set the timer for 10 seconds and try again.
Chapter Four

Breaking a Tie

  1. Each tied player draws one new card, year hidden, and places it into their row.
  2. Everyone flips their new card at the same time.
    • All wrong: leave the card year showing in the correct spot, then draw again.
    • Only one correct: that player wins.
    • Some correct: those players keep going. Repeat.
